Reviews of the book

A review from Amazon.com: King Solomon's Troubles was such an amazing read. Very rarely do you find a book that articulates the realities of human nature relative to our moral and spiritual desires, in such an effective way. Senesh accomplishes this and more in this book. It really broadened my perspective on how I view my own spirituality and my human frailties as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

A review from Barnes&Nobles.com: This book of fiction did not preach about religion, but explored some of the dynamics of being religious. For example, Senesh wrote on p. 15 that King Solomon and King David were "men of the flesh and men of power, but also men of God. And that is the ultimate paradox." I found her writing about this fascinating--reminding me that life is not black and white. Additionally, I felt that this was a fun book to read because of the variety of voices and it moved quickly. Some of the scenes made me teary-eyed, while others made me chuckle. This was a well-written book, and it took my mind to other places and times. Definitely would recommend!

A review from Goodreads.com: It goes to show that women are the same the world over no matter the situation in our countries. A very interesting book with a very different plot.

A review from Barnes&Nobles.com: This book is more interesting than "The Red Tent" and "Dovekeepers" because it follows several modern-day Israeli women. A 'must read' for fans of Middle East literature.

A review from Barnes&Nobles.com: Great story about some very interesting characters. I had fun reading this book and I would recommend it to anyone.

A review from Goodreads.com: There were different voices in this book--Christian, Jewish, and Muslim--as well as different views on women's roles that ranged from feminist to conservative. It is fast-paced in some ways, but it also goes deep--we get to read character's thoughts and poetry, as well as read their dialogue with others. There was a psychological slant in this book that made it really fascinating!

This book has similarities to the "Red Tent," but where it differs is its story lines of modern Israeli women that are embedded in the King Solomon's story. Though some might not see any connection between the King Solomon's story line and the modern women's stories, I see connections between the two. I liked the 'time travel' between the old and the new eras. Very creative writing!
